I don't even have the words to describe disappointment. What happened? Did Cronin push them too far after making them leave the locker room after the Louisville loss? Does he not have the ability to excite/pump them up? Do they have no pride?!? These, and many other questions, will maybe never be answered. I just want this season to be over - I hope we don't even make the NIT. We surely don't deserve it.

I think the word should be more like "disgusting"!! They don't deserve the NIT and I think they should turn it down if they make it in. Why embarrass the fans even more??? The talent is there but perhaps the coaching is the problem...???
ReplyDeleteWe don't deserve the NIT. All we deserve is an invitation to the College Basketball Tournament, or whatever it's called. It can be argued, and I will do so right now, that playing in that tournament is worse than ending the season right now. All it does is remind them of how much they choked at the end of the season. With little motivation to win in this tournament, we'll probably get dominated by a team like Northern Southwest Rhode Island Tech. Prolonging the embarrassment of the season's end is salt in the wound, and it would be better to begin the offseason training as soon as possible. However, maybe we need this slap-in-the-face tournament to get us straight, and maybe we can use this as motivation for next season to avoid a repeat of this season.
ReplyDeleteWho's to blame for the ultimate let down? Cronin and fellow coaches? The players? I don't know. I don't think it's time to jump ship on Cronin yet, but I do know that a different approach for preparation for games from both the coaches and the players is absolutely necessary if any change for the better is desired.
